Third Button

Moving unnervingly, blistering on the edge of my sight

Pick your poison, zoom in to my lonely retreat

Decider of my fate, you care about nothing

Nothing but the movement, guided by my hand

Do it twice, I think that I just might

I don’t have to wait, I’ll do it all at once

Never here nor there, but you move around

Relentless, waiting without the faintest note

Ever in the box of my sight, my wandering eye

My wondering eye, attended to my shifting thoughts

I wait listlessly, forever amused and forever bored

Entertain me

Narragansett

Tiny knot in the sand waiting for me

Untidy, untie me, grains rush past

Slivers of gold and silver fractured through time

Rushing in white, leaving in blue

Flashes of weight left over from before

Withered, weathered bones of the Earth

Through the glass iris into the depths

Tiny tangle waiting for the hands

Slowly tumble back

Wind

It’s the yo-yo, I only notice it when it’s going up

After spinning at the pivot, it pulls

It’s a mad rush to the top, fighting up

I always know it will go down, but

that doesn’t comfort me.

Forget that yo-yo where it is

Don’t watch it, waiting for the inevitable

Walk away. We can’t though

We’re each caught in that string as it winds

Watching destiny unfold with faith that

it will always end the same.
